Patient Scam Alert
Scam Alert
We have received reports of scam phone calls where individuals are impersonating UCLA Health offices or staff. In these cases, the caller ID may display the name and phone number of UCLA Health, but the call is not legitimate. This is a common tactic known as caller ID spoofing.
What You Should Know:
- We will never call you to demand immediate payment, or ask for your social security number, bank account, or credit card information over the phone.
- If we do call you, we will always identify ourselves clearly and provide a way for you to verify the call by calling us back through our official number.
- These scam calls are part of a wider trend affecting healthcare organizations nationwide. The goal is to steal your personal or financial information
What You Can Do:
- If a call seems suspicious, hang up immediately.
- Do not provide any personal or financial information.
- Call us directly at the phone number provided by the office in person or posted on our official web site, to confirm whether we contacted you.
- Report the incident to the Federal Trade Commission at www.reportfraud.ftc.gov or by calling 1-877-FTC-HELP.
