Cognitive Impacts after Treatment

It’s not uncommon for cancer survivors to experience cognitive challenges after treatment, such as trouble multitasking, word-finding difficulties, and memory lapses. These symptoms can affect daily functioning, confidence, and work performance. Dr. Kathleen Van Dyk discusses the multiple factors that may contribute to these changes, including chemotherapy, radiation, the cancer itself, co-occurring health conditions, and emotional stressors like anxiety, depression, or sleep disruption.

This webinar will cover:

  • Common cognitive issues related to cancer treatment
  • Contributing factors behind “chemo brain” and other post-treatment changes
  • Coping strategies to support executive functioning, memory, and language
  • Workarounds for staying organized, improving focus, and managing daily tasks
  • Tips to boost confidence and quality of life

Facilitated by:  Kathleen Van Dyk, PhD Health Sciences Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences, Geriatric Psychiatry
